ae2-40th-anniversary-edition
Acoustic Energy AE2 40th Anniversary — Bookshelf Speakers

The AE2 40th Anniversary is the limited edition Acoustic Energy built at the request of those who heard the AE1 40th Anniversary. It uses the same new drivers as the AE1, a 29 mm tweeter and two 125 mm anodised aluminium mid/bass units, in a cabinet that carries on the legacy of the 1990s AE2 Signature.

To match the AE1's low colouration in a bigger cabinet, Acoustic Energy reinforced the inside with 3 mm steel plates in key places. The result is deeper bass and more headroom, with lower midrange distortion and more transparency at normal listening levels. The crossover is simple and low order, for a fast, lively sound, made for people who listen to music before they read spec sheets.

It suits rooms larger than around 25 m²: the scale of a small floorstander, with the three-dimensional imaging and easy placement of a standmount. High-gloss walnut or black finish.

Specifications

Tweeter: 29 mm anodised aluminium dome

Mid/bass: 2 x 125 mm anodised aluminium cone

Frequency response: 35 Hz – 45 kHz (±6 dB)

Sensitivity: 88 dB

Power handling: 200 W

Crossover frequency: 2.2 kHz

Impedance: 6 ohm

Cabinet: 18 to 32 mm layered HDF and bitumen, steel-plate reinforced, triple reflex port

Magnetic cloth grilles

Dimensions (H x W x D): 385 x 235 x 315 mm

Weight: 14.5 kg each
